Food Scraps
I can never leave the kitchen when I have something on the stove - I have learned my lesson. My studio happens to be on the floor above the kitchen and more than once I put something like soup on the stove, something that needs to cook for about two hours, and I would go upstairs and get involved in a project I had started while I waited. I would get so completely engrossed in what I was doing that I wouldn't even hear the timer going off. It would then take days of soaking and scraping the pan to remove the burnt soup remains on the bottom. So I need so stay in the kitchen when soup is on the stove. While standing in the kitchen and waiting, I play with the scraps of food before I clear them off to the composting bin. I get involved in this too. But I am right there when it starts to smell burnt. And I always hear the timer.
